Love and Service in Australia

Murwillumbah, New South Wales

Murwillumbah, New South Wales is where the Heart of Love Centre is in Australia. Since September 24, 2018, volunteers have begun providing breakfast to students in a high school in the area. Some students travel on buses to school for almost an hour from home and miss out on the main meal of the day. Volunteers serve toast, spreads, cheese, fruits and bottled water every morning.

The Headmaster is very happy that Heart of Love volunteers are local and supporting this project, with Health in Kind. It all started when the Headmaster reached out for medical assistance two weeks ago and a meeting was arranged to find out what the needs of the students were. The volunteers are delighted they can be of service to the community, especially with Annapoorna Breakfast Service.

Perth, Western Australia

Health in Kind in Perth have begun a service initiative with a new partner called CARAD (Centre for Asylum Seekers, Refugees and Detainees). CARAD helps refugee families and has over a hundred families in their care. The first service day on Saturday, September 22, 2018 was about making introductions, building rapport and sharing health information. Sisters Ha and Dilani, our audiologists shared some great insights on ear infections. Aunty Helen, an ex-nurse spoke about flu and how to contain it. She also conducted a lovely meditation with the whole group. There were youths and adults supporting the service activity by talking and socialising with the families. Everyone enjoyed a nice evening tea and the social interaction.
