Food Distribution Service Report

In Recife, Pernamuco from December 15, 2019 to January 15, 2020

From its inception in June 2019 until its latest delivery on January 12, 2020, Narayana Seva's volunteer group, linked to Casa Sai Amor Infinito – Sai Infinite Love House (Anantha Prema Sai House), in Recife, Pernambuco, northeastern Brazil, distributed a total of 5,469 meals. In December 2019, a total of 1,085 meals were delivered to homeless and socially vulnerable people. In the first two weekends of the new year of 2020, the Narayana Seva group of Casa Sai Amor Infinito have already distributed a total of 414 meals.

Narayana Seva's preparation activities take place at Sai Infinite Love House, a house of Prayer and Service to Others, founded in 2019 in Recife, Pernambuco, by Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s devotees from various religions. The distribution is always held on weekends, with the direct and indirect collaboration of about 15 volunteers, mostly young. However, the group also encourages the participation of children and the elderly who help in the distribution of juices and water during the activity.

Always; before leaving for the distribution in the streets of central Recife City, but after preparing the lunch boxes to be delivered, the group counts the meals and prays for the blessings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba for the food and for all who receive the Prasadam. The Vedic mantra ‘Brahmarpanam’ is chanted by all and the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi is also sung for conducting a good service.

The distribution takes place in the Praça do Diário, a central region of the city, known as a place for people who are homeless. The food distribution, water delivery and juice delivery teams are positioned before the service is started. On average, about 200 to 250 meals are delivered every Sunday at noon by the Narayana Seva volunteer group at Sai Infinite Love House.

The work soon became known and is already awaited by many who, living in conditions of misery on the streets, find in Narayana Seva the opportunity to receive food, a smile, a hug and finally to receive love - the love of Swami!

At the end of the delivery the volunteers form a circle and hand in hand they pray the Lord's Prayer which is often accompanied by those who have just received the food!

Currently, Narayana Seva of Casa Sai Amor Infinito is the gateway to the institution. Through this service a large group of people have found Swami's love and found meaning in life through the practice of “Serving All! Loving Everyone!”
