Dilkusha Orphanage Children Christmas Party

at TappooCity Mall

As part of their “Be a Hero Campaign” which involves facilitating the collection of blood at various locations around Fiji, the youth of Sai Prema Foundation embarked on yet another journey to collect some much needed “liquid love” - blood. The youth teamed up with the Fiji National Blood Services Department from the Ministry of Health and conducted a day long blood drive on Saturday October 28, 2017 at Tappoocity Centre, in the heart of Suva, Fiji.

A bus was hired to bring the children and their caregivers to TappooCity Mall on that Monday afternoon. Upon arrival, they were greeted by the SPF members and more importantly, by Santa Claus!  All the kids were very excited to see their favourite person of the season. After giving everyone a Santa hat and candies, the children all took turns to pose for photographs with Santa, and then a group photo was taken with the children, caregivers, Santa and the SPF members. After this, Santa took the kids on a buggy ride around the shopping mall. The children were all filled with big smiles, joy and laughter.

After the meet and greet with Santa, the kids were in for another treat! They went up to the fourth floor where the play centre for Children and the food court are located. First, they were taken to the play centre where they all had a wonderful and fun time playing amongst the slides, balls and obstacle courses.

Soon after, dinner was served at New York Pizza Kitchen. All the children and the caregivers enjoyed some delicious vegetarian pizza, bread with dip and French fries followed by ice cream with fruit salad. The sumptuous meal was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.

Once the children finished their dinner, a magic show and entertainment was performed by one of the trustees of SPF. Everyone enjoyed the show and some of the children even took part in it.

Towards the end of the Christmas party, each and every child was presented with a gift and a photo of himself/herself with Santa! More photos of the kids were taken with the SPF members. After a teary farewell, the kids boarded their bus to take them back to their home.

Throughout the evening, all the children were very happy and excited. They couldn’t contain their excitement even when they used the lifts. It was truly a memorable evening in the True Spirit of Christmas -- by giving selflessly, youth also receive so much joy and happiness -- enough for one and all.
