Dinner Packets Distributed in

Jamshedpur - Jharkhand

Coinciding with the World Food Day on October 16, 2020 and International Day for the Eradication of Poverty on October 17, 2020, the Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust in association with Sri Sai Surya Panchajanya Trust, Jamshedpur started distribution of dinner packets to one attendant of admitted patients in general wards of Mercy Hospital at Baridih, Jamshedpur from October 17, 2020 onwards with the motto “No one goes to bed on hungry stomach”.

The inauguration function was held at Mercy Hospital on October 17, 2020 at 7.30 PM. Dr. Maheshwar Prasad, Retired Civil Surgeon was the Chief Guest. Sister Jessy, Administrator and James Davis, General Manager of Mercy Hospital were present on the occasion. Sister Jessy lauded the efforts of Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust in mitigating the suffering of the poor during the COVID-19 pandemic times. Mr. James David appreciated the timely effort of Annapoorna Trust and drew the attention of all to the latest Hunger Index released on October 16, 2020 in which India is ranked 94 among 107 nations and expressed hope that such initiatives will go a long way in mitigating hunger. Dr. Maheshwar Prasad mentioned in his talk that October 17, 2020, marked the beginning of Navarathri festival and prayed to Maa Annapoorneshwari for Her blessings on this noble effort by the Annapoorna Trust. He urged everybody present to pay back to society as per individual capacity and capability. He also requested one and all not to waste food as the same can be used to fill the stomach of somebody else. A total of 100 dinner packets containing three rotis, sabji (vegetables), pickle and sweet were distributed by Dr. Maheshwar Prasad, Sister Jessy, James Davis, Dr. Vatsala, staff of Mercy Hospital and Annapoorna Volunteers. This service will continue daily with different items like, Upma, Fried Rice, Idly, Puri and such.
