95th Birthday Celebrations of Bhagawan

Sri Sathya Sai Aarogya Vahini, West Bengal, India

Day One: Sri Sathya Sai Aarogya Vahini, West Bengal, India done the nine-day long 95th Birthday Celebrations of their beloved Master, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba with Anna and Vastra Daan (Gifts of Food and Clothing) to beneficiaries and School Kits to Students.

With the motto ‘No child should go to school hungry‘, Aarogya Vahini has been serving regular breakfast to the students of Kamala Nari Siksha Sadan since Bhagawan’s 90th Birthday in 2015.

To commemorate their dearest Swami’s 95th Birthday, the team offered school bags and exercise books to these children. During the current pandemic times, when every child is not privileged for online coaching, Aarogya Vahini has stepped up to support education for these students!

Smt. Tapasi Sardar who resides near Ruby Hospital, Kolkata, recently lost her husband to terminal Illness. She works as a domestic help to sustain her family of two children, a son and a daughter. The team had been supporting the patient for his palliative care throughout the phase of lockdown with Medicines, Consumables, Injectables, Investigations, Colostomy Bags and Clinical Diets till his last day. The team is now supporting the family for their daily needs. They were with the family during the cyclone when support was needed for their temporary shelter inside a slum area. The team is also fortunate to get the opportunity to support the education of the children. As part of Bhagawan’s Birthday Celebrations, monthly allowances in the form of rations and groceries along with Vastra Daan (Gifts of Clothing) was offered to Smt. Sardar and her children!

Aarogya Vahini has been privileged to serve Smt. Pratima Nandy, an elderly lady of 76 years, residing at Bhawanipore, Kolkata. Members have been around her and her late husband for the last 15 years, providing all their Medical and Domestic needs every month without any break, through those years. For Aarogya Vahini, Bhagawan’s 95th Birthday is, no doubt, the best occasion to bring a smile on her face by offering her sarees, monthly rations and groceries.

Day Two: Sri Sathya Sai Aarogya Vahini team celebrated with Baby Vihaan!

Born with a congenital heart defect, Baby Vihaan required a VSD (ventricular septal defect) correction! The parents were in a state of trauma as the mother had two miscarriages earlier.

Being a single bread winner, affordability and accessibility to opt for such a surgery was a very difficult consideration for the father.

Team Aarogya Vahini could facilitate the surgery from Kolkata, as the parents could reach out from the nearest Nodal Point of the Mobile Medical Unit in North 24 Parganas, West Bengal. Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani team in Palwal,

Haryana was quick to respond even amidst the pandemic and the child was successfully operated upon. Aarogya Vahini facilitates regular post-operative check-ups and prays for a beautiful life ahead for the child!

Day Three: Celebrated with the Post-Operative Children, the surgeries for whom were facilitated completely free of cost by Sri Sathya Sai Aarogya Vahini team at pristine Tertiary Care Institutions!

They offer completely free of cost surgeries after on-ground detection by the Aarogya Vahini Team which includes surgeries for Hernia, Gall Bladder and even the most expensive surgeries like the Sigmoid Loop Colostomy!

A journey from the rural doorsteps, where a Virtual Mobile Hospital arrives offering State-of-the-Art Healthcare Services in the most ambient conditions in a village set-up - to a State-of-the-Art Hospital in the city, is no less than a miracle for the anxious parents of rural children. They are only helping themselves to believe that when human endeavour is coupled with Divine Blessings, miracles are bound to unfold! 

Families of these children undergoing surgeries were offered Anna (Food) Daan, Vastra (Clothing) Daan and gifts for the children.

Mobile Health Initiatives continued to serve rural patients in Siakhala, Hooghly, West Bengal offering 63 consultations this day!

Day Four: Team Aarogya Vahini Celebrations reached three destinations. While one team reached out for Vastra Daan to Poorna Chandra Mondol, for an adult cardiac patient of Sonarpur who is under constant medical follow-up after a Mitral Valve Replacement; the other two teams reached the villages of Siakhala and Tora in the Districts of Hooghly where 103 patients were offered consultations by Doctors and a Paramedic Team.

Day Five: A delighted Baby Moupiya actually gave leaps and bounds of joy to the team on the fifth day of the celebrations. The baby is undergoing a complete procedure for Cleft Lip Surgery facilitated by the Aarogya Vahini team in association with German Deutsch Cleft Foundation! The team visited the family for Vastra Daan for the mother and a beautiful token of love for the child.

The Medical team split themselves at Birendranagar, Hooghly to offer 74 adults consultations, mainly for Chronic NCD (non-communicable disease) patients and 63 children undergoing General, Cardiac, Ophthalmic and Dental Screening under the Divine Child Programme.

Day Six: The team visited three young, brave hearts who have exhibited extreme courage and will power to defy all atrocities which life threw at them!

Baby Asmit, after his Cleft Lip and Palate Surgery facilitated by the Aarogya Vahini team has a new identity for himself – one of great confidence in his life! The child was even born with Corneal Opacity and Congenital Cardiac Anomaly. Now the child is undergoing speech therapy and is slowly progressing in his ability to speak.

Baby Chaitali who has Cerebral Palsy is unfortunately staying in extremely precarious conditions. The shelter where the family stays is nothing but sheets of plastics. The mother of the child is also reeling with ailments and requires a surgery for a lower abdominal tumour. Aarogya Vahini is supporting the family and is working on mending the shelter and facilitating the surgery for the mother.

Baby Dipayan, identified with Osteocarcinoma had to undergo an amputation of the left leg. The child is undergoing chemotherapy. Aarogya Vahini is facilitating an artificial Jaipur Leg for early December 2020.

Day Seven: marked the commencement of support for Nutrition with Sai Sure for 871 children in interior Durgapur of Burdwan District, West Bengal. A truly motivating aspect has been the enthusiasm of the local volunteers who are a group of teachers who have been working shoulder to shoulder with the Aarogya Vahini Team for this support since lockdown began!

This day also marked the beginning of health initiatives in a new location of Tarakeshwar in the Hooghly District of West Bengal. Amidst 83 patients consulted, a paediatric cardiac anomaly was detected and has been referred to Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital, Palwal.

Day Eight: celebrated with 95 families with almost 450 beneficiaries across different areas of the city and villages with bags of groceries.

Health initiatives continued with the medical team in Baranagar in North 24 Parganas.

The evening witnessed the outpouring of love from little hearts, the Balvikas students, who performed for their Beloved Lord on a virtual platform!

Day Nine: Sri Sathya Sai Aarogya Vahini celebrated the Glorious 95th Birthday with Maha Narayan Seva for 950 beneficiaries at Chunakhali, Sunderban.

The team has been working in these areas since the Amphan Cyclone. 95 saplings were planted in the presence of Hon’ble MLA (Member of Legislative Assembly) Sri Jayanta Naskar.

The Mobile Medical Unit with the entire Medical Team offered Medical Aid to 95 adult women in the area.

The Nine-day celebrations were full of Joy and Bliss in spreading and sharing Bhagawan’s love to one and all!
