The youth of Singapore took part in a project called “Project Homeworks”. This is a home rebuilding project organised monthly by ‘Habitat for Humanity’, a non-profit Christian housing organisation with a mission to eliminate poverty housing worldwide by building simple and decent houses with the help of the homeowner families themselves and volunteers.
Project Homeworks in Singapore aims to improve living conditions of the elderly and friends in the community with physical disabilities. In particular, their living spaces often lack safety and sanitation.
The youths had the opportunity to help with cleaning the elderly homes that they were assigned to and painting specific areas of the apartments that had undergone rust or decay over the years.
Most importantly, the youths of Singapore had the chance to interact with the senior citizens (most of them live alone) and in return received so much love and wisdom from them.
