Mindfulness Program for Parents

and Teachers in Singapore

Thich Nhat Hanh, Vietnamese Buddhist monk, Zen Master and Peace Activist put it aptly, “The present moment is filled with joy and happiness. If you are attentive, you will see it.”

The Mindfulness Program for Parents and Teachers was recently launched in Singapore. Under the guidance of Dr Ron and Dr Suwanti Farmer and utilising the methods they have developed; the youth of Singapore are embarking upon a journey to live in the present moment. To exist completely in the now and to let go of the regrets of the past and anxieties of the future.

Swami presented a beautiful opportunity for them to see the needs of their fellow Singaporeans by conducting monthly Mindfulness Network Sessions for Parents and Teachers. The participants were identified through the Divine Mother and Child Health Program. Children were offered Education in Human Values and their parents were invited to join in the Mindfulness sessions conducted by the youth who had attended the training by the Farmers.

As part of Swami’s principles of teaching; the first step is the transformation of the teachers – so that they can be role models and reflect values that they hope to impart to their students. These monthly sessions are helpful in their journey to find their true selves; to lead a life full of love and joy and to light the lamp in the hearts of others.
